Nicholas Coppel has been a senior Australian diplomat with a focus on the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. He conducted official business in every independent Pacific Island state and led the Branch in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) responsible for Pacific regional issues. Over the past several years and since leaving DFAT, he researched and co-authored on cyber security and cyber capacity building, including an article in Computers & Security. In May 2021, he was made an Adjunct Associate Professor (Practice) in the Faculty of Information Technology, Monash University.
